Michael Coleman

Executive Director

Bio: Michael founded Hope Inspired Ministries (H.I.M.) in January 2012, in Montgomery, Alabama, and currently serves as the Executive Director.  He previously served 21 years in the Army and, upon retirement, pastored a church for five years. He also served as the Director of Benevolence for a local inner city ministry.

Michael is driven by a passion to demonstrate the love of Jesus to the marginalized of our society.  He believes in Jesus’ approach to accept all people where they are but to challenge them to become what God created them to be.

He has a B.S. Degree in Management from Park University and a M.S. in Christian Ministry from Amridge University. He married his high school sweetheart (Susan Burnett) and has been married for 30 years. He has two daughters, Lauren and Taten, and three grandsons–Jackson, Bryson, and Coleman–and one granddaughter, Collins.

Program Director

Bio: Leanne has served as the Program Director of Hope Inspired Ministries since its inception in January 2012. In addition to serving as the Program Director, she also performs duties as the primary instructor for the men.

Although Leanne’s background has primarily been in the nursing field, her heart has led her to work with chronically unemployed men and women in order to help them transition to the workforce.

Leanne has also been active in various mission works since college and has been to Haiti and Mexico and was happy to move into the role she is now serving in.

Leanne is married to Michael Jordan (no not that one) and they attend church at Landmark in Montgomery. She has one daughter, Emma, who is 22 years old and married to Scott Ellis. Emma recently graduated from the University of North Alabama with a degree is Spanish.

Financial Operator

Bio: Beth began working at Hope Inspired Ministries in December 2015 and manages the financial operations for HIM. She previously worked at Vaughn Park Church for seven years and was in export sales in both Atlanta, GA, and Montgomery, AL, for over 17 years.

While working at Vaughn Park, Beth took advantage of the opportunity to go on several mission trips, both in and out of the United States, which opened her heart to those struggling to come out of poverty. However, she realized that people were truly struggling, not just in foreign countries, but in her own backyard.

Beth is married to Steve McCary. She has one daughter, Claire and a son-in-law named Colton, and one son, Hearn, who attends Troy University. She also three fur babies, Stella, CoCo and Sophie.

Shannon Coleman-McCrory, MS, AADA


Bio: Shannon joined HIM staff in April 2016 and as an instructor and counselor. Shannon holds an MS in Counseling/Psychology, and is a Certified Addictions Counselor. She has 18 years of experience working in social services and has served diverse populations, including domestic violence/sexual assault victims and individuals struggling with addiction. Shannon has two married adult children, Ben and Kristen, and is the grandmother of three.

Karen Boan

Volunteer Coordinator 

Bio: Karen began working for Hope Inspired Ministries in January 2017 as the Volunteer Coordinator. She helps with coordinating lunches and mentors, as well as maintaining and building new relationships with volunteers. She always helps out coordinating our events! Prior to coming to HIM, Karen dedicated the past 20 years to raising her three boys, Jackson, Holland and Soloman and her husbad, Kenneth Boan. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Auburn University in Montgomery. Her eldest son, Jackson, is pursuing an accounting degree from Auburn University in Montgomery. Her second child, Holland, will begin Faulkner University in the fall, and her third son, Solomon, is a high school student. Karen enjoys time with her family, which usually involves a sporting event for one of the boys. They attend Landmark Church in Montgomery.

Keelan Adams


Bio: Keelan joined Hope Inspired Ministries staff as an instructor May 2017. He attended Southeastern Bible College and earned his degree in Bible and Theology (B.A., 2010). In addition to his experience of Christian ministry in the context of the local church, He has served a number of years as an educator at a classical Christian school in the state of Alabama.

Over the years, the Lord has been creating a passion within Keelan to serve marginalized and disenfranchised members of society, specifically in the inner city. He has been married to Tracey, whom he certainly cherishes, for ten years. They have been blessed with five children: Quincey, Aliyah, Carson, Christian, and Jahaziel.

Angelicia Willis

Administrative Assistant

Bio: Angelicia started out as a student at Hope Inspired Ministries in January 2017 to get the skills she needed to get her into the workforce. She was the top student in her class and did her internship at HIM for three weeks. She graduated as the Honor Graduate of her class and was hired on full-time as the receptionist. Since being at HIM, she has taken on the role of receptionist, student recruitment and is currently in training to be a case manager and instructor for HIM. Angelicia uses her story of redemption and restoration to help show what HIM is doing to impact lives in our community, as well as encourage potential students to start the program. In her spare time, she likes to read and spend time with her family.

Site Director

Bio: Myron was born in Leesville, Louisiana and raised in Athens, Georgia. Myron is currently pursuing his B.A. in Christian Studies from Point University along with attending Highlands College to pursue his certificate of Ministry Training in Pastoral Leadership. Myron is married to his beautiful bride, Chaquita, and they have four amazing kids: Myron, Mya, Bryson and Taylor. Myron has worked in various positions of leadership while serving in the Air Force for 21 years. He retired from the Air Force in October of 2015. Myron and his family attend the Church of the Highlands.

In his spare time, Myron likes to spend time with family, read, ride bikes, travel and take on new adventures. In addition, he also enjoys coaching and mentoring individuals to help them achieve their goals and help them get what they want out of life.

Talitha Ledbetter

Director of Operations

Bio: Talitha was hired as the Director of Operations for the Birmingham campus in 2016. A native of Birmingham, AL, Talitha worked with Hoar Construction where she set up jobsite offices, managed the accounting, as well as the day-to-day operations. Her love was the team collaboration approach with jobsite contractors where she fundraised for community needs for the duration of the project. Talitha will run the day-to-day operations for HIM, as well as help coordinate all volunteers.

After walking a long journey full of challenges with her personal life, and the life of her daughter who was in addiction, Talitha has found a passion to help others journey into grace, restoration, and hope that Christ so lovingly walked her through. Because of her experiences, she is a lifelong learner of grace and hope. Talitha raised her son and daughter in Birmingham and was very involved with the former Cathedral of the Cross in Center Point. She has been married to Rusty since 2001 (who is her true helpmate!) and they attend The Healing Place in Trussville, AL. Together they have a blended family that includes two girls, one son, four grandsons and two grandpups.

Farrah Wright


Bio: Farrah was hired as the Instructor for the HIM Birmingham campus in 2016. Farrah has an incredible story of redemption and her life has shown how the Lord can take any story and bring beauty from ashes.

Farrah grew up in Birmingham, but ran away from home at the age of 17 and battled addiction for the next 10 years. In those 10 years, she experienced homelessness, isolation, suicide attempts and jail. On July 9, 2014, Farrah decided to get clean and entered the Foundry in Bessemer, AL. Her life was completely changed after she entered the program! She graduated from The Foundry in August 2015 and began working at Stellar Construction as an Administrative Assistant where she worked for over a year, as well as mentored women in the Foundry.

In 2016, Farrah was accepted into Highlands College where she is studying Pastoral Leadership. Farrah was also married in 2016 to Del Wright, who she met while at The Foundry. Del and Farrah both have a heart for serving their community in various capacities. Her husband works The Exceptional Foundation in Homewood, AL where he works with adults/children with special needs.

Farrah has walked a very long journey of hopelessness and bad decisions and never thought that she would be where she is today. Because of this, she’s very passionate about helping others achieve this success in all aspects of life and also give them hope, grace and mercy like others have given her. She believes she can do this through working with HIM.

Lehua Lewis

Volunteer Coordinator

Bio: Lehua started out as a student at Hope Inspired Ministries Birmingham in January 2017 after dealing with several trails in her life. She needed a second chance and the skills necessary to get a job and keep a job. She was one of the top students in her class and did her internship at HIM for three weeks. She graduated from HIM in March 2017 with perfect attendance and was hired on full-time as the Volunteer Coordinator. Since being at HIM, she has taken on the role of receptionist, helps coordinate and recruit volunteers, and helps recruit potential students. Lehua uses her story of redemption and restoration to help show what HIM is doing to impact lives in our community, as well as encourage potential students to start the program. In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her three children and attends Church of the Highlands.
